The Future is Now

GWTA DirectorSeptember 19, 2015 will be remembered as one of the most magnificent days in the history of the Goldsboro-Wayne Transportation Authority. On this date we celebrated an event that was the culmination of many years of anticipation and that many doubted would ever happen. At approximately 11:30 a.m., Goldsboro Mayor Al King cut the ribbon officially opening the new GWTA transfer center. The sun was shining, and the band was playing. It could not have been a more glorious event. Thank you to all who attended and who made the day even greater.

The future is now for your Goldsboro-Wayne Transportation Authority. Gone is the old dingy transfer center. We invite you to visit the new brightly lit transfer center at 103 N. Carolina St. Check out the new artwork provided by the Goldsboro Arts Council. Take advantage of the free wi-fi available in the air conditioned waiting area. Enjoy a Pepsi while sitting in the comfortable seats. Make use of the clean hands free restrooms.

GWTA has also implemented new routes and new route names. Gone are the old names of Berkeley, North End, South End, Express, and Wayne Memorial. They are now Blue, Red, Purple, Yellow, and Green. Gone is the old list of bus stops that did not make any sense unless you were a long time resident of Goldsboro. There is now a new System Map that clearly shows where all the buses go. Gone is the website that directed you nowhere. If you are reading this, you know that it has been replaced by

GWTA also has three new low floor urban buses and three new rural vans in the fleet. Additional vehicles for both the urban and rural systems are scheduled to go into service in the next year.

Give GWTA another look. We are your new transit system. The future is now. We welcome all to be a part of it.

Thank you.
