The Wait Is Over

GWTA DirectorThe new GWTA Transfer Center has been talked about for over 10 years, and for a long time it only seemed like a dream. Now, through the efforts of the City of Goldsboro, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the Federal Transit Administration, and many other local supporters, the dream becomes a reality. On Saturday, September 19, at 11:00 a.m., the City of Goldsboro is hosting a Ribbon Cutting Celebration at the new GWTA Transfer Center, located at 103 N. Carolina Street. Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony.

We are excited to begin bus service out of our new transfer center at the corner of Mulberry and Carolina at 5:30 a.m. on September 21. The GWTA Board of Directors has announced that all urban bus service will be FREE on Monday, September 21, and Tuesday, September 22.

You will notice many other changes as well. Hopefully, by now you have seen our new bus stop signs. They began appearing throughout Goldsboro last month. All the bus routes will have new names effective September 21. They will be named by color. For example, the Wayne Memorial route is now the Green route. New system and individual route maps have been prepared and will be available throughout Goldsboro, at many of our major stops. You can also view them by clicking on Maps and Schedules on this website.

Each route will have an assigned spot at the Transfer Center. In order to assist you, we will have staff and volunteers available to make sure that everyone gets on the right bus. We have also prepared a listing of most major stops with the old route and the new route identified.

We know that change is often difficult. GWTA is trying to make all these new and exciting changes as easy as possible for everyone. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any staff member whenever you have any questions or need assistance.

Thank you.
