We are Older Americans

GWTA DirectorMay is Older Americans Month. During this month, we honor the lives of our parents, grandparents, neighbors, and co-workers for the wisdom shown to all of us in our youth and adult life. Take the time to thank all the seniors in your life that have made a difference in your life. Pay respect to those who are no longer with us by visiting their graves. Take an older relative to lunch.

The residents of Goldsboro and Wayne County are fortunate to have the Wayne County Senior Services Department and the Peggy Seegars Senior Center located at 2001 E. Ash St. The Senior Center has many activities planned this month to honor Older Americans. Among them are:

The Starlight Dance Band performs on Friday, May 13, from 7:00-9:00. Come and dance the night away. Light refreshments will be served. The event is sponsored by the Wayne County Arts Council. Everyone who is 50 and above is invited!

Enjoy lunch with a cop on Wednesday, May 18, at 11:30. Meet with the folks that keep us all safe. Ask questions and bring up any concerns.

The Senior Center’s Drama Team will present its 7th production, “Hurrah for Laughter” on Tuesday, May 24, at 2:00. This production is a series of seven short comedic skits depicting day-to-day real life situations. Come prepared to laugh!

Contact Paula Edwards or her fine staff at 919-705-1785 for more details.

GWTA is proud to serve the Senior Center with both the Blue Route and the Yellow Route. Seniors 60 and over ride for only $0.50. Make May the month that you decide to try the bus.

May God bless all our Older Americans.

Thank you.
