How much does it cost for children to ride?

Children under 42” ride free with paying adult (one child per adult). For children over 42” the fare is $1 per trip.

What are the hours of operation for the vans?

Our earliest pick-up is 4 a.m. Our latest pick up is 6 p.m.

What are the hours of operation for the buses?

GWTA buses run Monday through Friday 5:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. The Purple and Blue Routes run extended hours until September 1. The last buses on these routes leave the Transfer Center at 7:30 p.m.

Do you have bus passes or tickets for the week or month?

We do not offer weekly or monthly passes at this time. We do, however, have an 11-Ride Pass, which is available for $10 at the ticket window.

Can I prepay?

Absolutely. You will need to stop by the GWTA offices to prepay.

How do I to apply for employment with GWTA?

What time do you start on holidays?

GWTA staff observe the Wayne County holiday schedule. Service is available every day except:

Sundays
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

Service will end at 1 p.m. Christmas Eve. GWTA runs a regular service all other holidays. The holiday schedule for buses is 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Do you go to the Butterball facility, Sanderson Farms or Rose Hill?

We do not service these locations at this time.

How can I get a bus stop, bench or shelter near my home?

Is this Medicaid transportation?

No. GWTA is a Medicaid transportation provider. To speak to Medicaid directly please call (919) 731-1095.

Are you going to give students a discount?

We do not have a student discount program at this time.

Do you have a social media policy?

GWTA utilizes social media tools to efficiently and effectively communicate with you by providing relevant, timely, and interesting information. We hope these tools allow you to communicate with us in a direct and meaningful manner. We encourage and appreciate your constructive feedback and discussion and will use it to enhance GWTA. Are there cameras on board GWTA vehicles?

Yes. For the safety of our passengers and our operators all GWTA vehicles are equipped with security cameras. Cameras monitor video and audio activity.

Will Amtrak come to the new Transfer Center?

The Amtrak bus service will come through the new Transfer Center. Amtrak’s train service is not coming through at this time.
