Frequently Asked Questions

Children under 42” ride free with paying adult (one child per adult). For children over 42” the fare is $1 per trip.

Our earliest pick-up is 5 a.m. Our latest pick up is 6 p.m.

GWTA buses run Monday through Friday 5:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Holidays 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Last buses leave the Transfer Center at 5:30 p.m.

We do not offer weekly or monthly passes at this time. We do, however, have an 11-Ride Pass, which is available for $10 at the ticket window.

You can stop by the ticket window at the Transfer Center to purchase bus or van tickets in advance.

Service is available every day except Sundays, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Service operates on a Saturday schedule on the following holidays: Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Veterans Day, The Friday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.

We don’t have student discounts. However, Wayne Community College has a return ride offer for students. Contact Wayne Community College to learn more!

Yes. For the safety of our passengers and our operators all GWTA vehicles are equipped with security cameras. Cameras monitor video and audio activity.

The Amtrak bus service comes through the new Transfer Center. Contact Amtrak for tickets and schedules. Amtrak’s train service does not come through at this time.

Rural & Urban General Public Transportation (RGP/UGP) tickets can be purchased at the Transfer Center.

Yes, GWTA runs a connector route between Goldsboro and Mount Olive. See the Mount Olive Schedule.

Yes! GWTA is fully accessible for our riders with wheelchairs, site and hearing differences.

Accessible formats such as large print of all GWTA printed documents are available upon request. Contact Customer Relations at (919) 736-1374 or email gwta@waynegov.com with your request. Please allow 7 – 10 days for processing. Hearing impaired please call NC Relay at 711.
